We wanted to do so many things in Hong Kong! The Tian Tan Buddha in Lantau, Macau, Victoria Peak, trekking the Maclehose Trail, … The list was endless. But sometimes the weather is just not on your side. For us, that was in Hong Kong: Tyfoon Vicente came for a visit.
On our first day in Hong Kong the weather was still fine. We met with friends and hiked the Dragon’s Back Trail. It’s a path along the ridges from Shek O Peak to Wan Cham Shan. The contrast of the view on Hong Kong on the one hand, and the coast and sea on the other makes it a popular trek to do. At the highest peak, we ended up right in the middle of a storm; what a timing! Completely soaked we arrived at Shek O Beach where the sun was out again. In the evening, we had dinner in one of many popular indoor wet-markets.
The other days, Tyfoon Vicente put himself on the agenda. We visited the Avenue of Stars and watched the Symphony of Stars, the light and music ‘spectacle’ among the skyline of Hong Kong. We went to the cinema to see The Dark Knight (yup, that’s the one with the scene in Hong Kong) and filled the rest of our days with playing cards. Except for that, we couldn’t do much. Too bad, no other option than going back then 😉
