Below is the route of our 3 week stay in Mongolia. We started in Ulan Bator, headed to the North, descended to the Gobi desert in the South and returned to Ulan Bator.

Beware: the above itinerary is not for softies 😉 As we wanted to experience the changing scenery from North to South, we needed to conquer huge distances. So we traveled over 4,000 km with the old RV, most of it off road. That means bumpy roads from early morning till late afternoon – day after day. We would do it again without a doubt, but it’s good to be (mentally) prepared.  If that doesn’t fit your needs, you can decide to stay in the North, or as often done, in the Gobi Desert.
